About Leigh Aerosystems
Leigh Aerosystems was founded in 1989 by Dr. Gordon Harris. From this time until early 2003, the company developed several wing kit variants to convert “dumb” inventory munitions into air-launched precision-guided stand-off weapons. These developments were funded by Leigh private investments and through demonstration programs with various users, including the USAF, Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF), Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), and the Royal Australian Air Force (RTAAF).
During the course of its history, Leigh developed and refined virtually all of the technologies essential to the design, manufacture, integration, and ground functional and environmental testing of these complex systems though flight testing and production.
These disciplines include CFD aerodynamic analysis, wind tunnel model design and testing, FEA structural analysis, performance, stability and control analysis and various levels of simulation including HardWare In Loop (HWIL).
Leigh has developed concepts and prototype air vehicle systems for organizations such as Lockheed Martin, Textron Systems, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Singapore Technologies, the US Air Force, and the US Navy.
Leigh is geographically surrounded by a cadre of very capable small manufacturers that we can rely upon to supply quality parts and components in accordance with Leigh designs and quality standards with minimum turn-around times.
Leigh's engineering operations are housed in the 22,000 square foot facility in Carlsbad, CA (shown below).
